i’m just gonna say it. everyone complaining about the addition of the boys is part of the problem The Wilds is critiquing. the whole narrative of the show is a deconstruction of girl boss white feminism, which posits men are the entire problem and women are better by nature. by complaining about the boys, you’re literally embodying gretchen—the villain of the show lmao
the fact that they’re using jeff, leah’s groomer, who she so clearly has a deeply unhealthy and toxic relationship with, a grown man while she is a minor, to try to get her cooperate shows how truly disgusting all the adults in charge of this experiment are
Het threat ranking (because we’re all worried about if s3 will be mainly straight romance nonsense)
Toni/Shelby: none. Shelby is passed the pretending to be straight thing and Toni is both a lesbian and also probably a man hater
Rachel: Low. Has never cared about romance and looks like she’ll be dealing with Nora drama again and her new found faith in religion.
Dot: low to medium. Dot’s personal arc is learning that she doesn’t need to be a care taker to everyone all the time. She has rejected romance before because she wasn’t ready so I can see a romance now as being a kind of growth. However she does have a boy back home and I can’t see her liking any of the boys all that much.
Fatin: unfortunately high. They pushed leatin HARD this season but Fatin has spoken too much about her love of sex to not have a test of her character development. I doubt this ‘romance’ will be long and it might be shut down before anything even happens but I would be surprised if Fatin didn’t have to deal with no het nonsense.
Leah: also unfortunately high. Similar to Fatin in some ways, I would be surprised if Raf doesn’t try and latch on to her and there weren’t at least some romantic undertones. I don’t believe she could actually do anything romantic with him but the het nonsense tones would be there until she dealt with it.
Martha: extremely high. She has expressed multiple times that she wants to date and have sex but due to her past trauma is scared. It would be really surprising if they didn’t have her at least like one of the boys and personally my money is on Bo.
I would like to beg the The Wilds writers not to introduce petty heterosexuality into s3. I don't mind romance if written well but I REALLY need it not to be some sort of Huge Thing where the girls start being jealous of each other and the guys start some stupid "I'm a better male than you" Bull Shit. What if there's one (1) boy×girl ship and it's a quiet peaceful romance. What if everyone immediately becomes Bros regardless of gender. Please and thank you
